“Shades of L.A.” A Mini-Doc?

My piece on “Shades of L.A.” — Los Angeles Public Library’s years-long project that sought to fill in the ethnic visual history of L.A. — has now made a leap to the voting stage.

What a great way to honor the two women, Carolyn Kozo Cole and Kathy Kobayashi, who were the engines behind this massive project that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

If you’d like peek at some of those 10,000 images inside those archival boxes stowed away in the libary and hear the curators talk about the process (and perhaps the families who were involved) you can vote here on KCET’s polling page.

It isn’t over until it’s over. Voting ends Monday AM..
